AC Technician / HVAC Foreman

Responsible for supervising and performing the assembly, installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and quality inspection of HVAC equipment such as Package Units & AHU’s and associated refrigeration/HVAC systems in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. Required Qualifications • ITI / Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, HVAC, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. • Typically 5–10 years of HVAC experience, preferably with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory/foreman role. • Experience in HVAC equipment manufacturing or assembly is strongly preferred. • Good knowledge of refrigeration systems, HVAC components, copper piping, brazing, electrical controls, and troubleshooting. Skills Key Responsibilities 1. HVAC Equipment Assembly • Supervise and perform mechanical assembly of HVAC equipment. • Install compressors, condensers, evaporator coils, expansion devices, filters, fans/blowers, motors, valves, piping, insulation, dampers, and accessories. • Ensure proper alignment, fastening, brazing, piping, and component installation. • Verify that assembly is in accordance with approved shop drawings and BOMs. 2. Refrigeration Work • Perform and supervise copper refrigerant piping and brazing. • Carry out nitrogen purging during brazing. • Conduct pressure/leak testing and evacuation of refrigeration circuits. • Charge refrigerant as per approved procedure. • Check superheat/subcooling and operating pressures. • Identify and rectify refrigeration-system faults. 3. Electrical & Controls • Assist with installation and checking of compressors, motors, contactors, overloads, heaters, thermostats, sensors, VFDs, and control panels. • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting. • Verify control wiring against electrical drawings. • Coordinate with electrical/control technicians for BMS, thermostat, and controller integration. 4. Testing & Quality Control • Perform functional testing of completed units. • Check airflow, temperature, pressure, vibration, noise, and electrical parameters. • Verify refrigerant pressures, current draw, voltage, and motor operation. • Identify manufacturing defects and coordinate corrective actions • Support factory acceptance testing and inspection by consultants/clients when required. 5. Foreman / Team Supervision • Supervise technicians, helpers, and production workers. • Allocate daily work according to the production schedule. • Monitor productivity, workmanship, and attendance. • Ensure technicians follow approved work methods and safety procedures. • Train junior technicians in HVAC assembly, brazing, testing, and troubleshooting. • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Stores, and Planning departments. 6. Troubleshooting • Diagnose mechanical, refrigeration, electrical, and control-system problems. • Rectify issues during production testing and commissioning. • Investigate repeated failures and provide feedback to Engineering/Quality. • Assist Engineering in improving product design and manufacturability. 7. Documentation • Complete inspection and testing checklists. • Record refrigerant charging, pressure testing, vacuum testing, and functional test results. • Report defects, rework, material shortages, and technical issues. • Ensure proper traceability of critical components and testing activities. 8. Safety • Ensure safe handling of refrigerants, pressure vessels, electrical equipment, brazing equipment, and tools. • Enforce PPE and safe working practices. • Ensure proper handling and storage of refrigerants and gases. • Report unsafe conditions and incidents to management.
