The role includes supporting students individually and in groups, assisting with IEP goals, preparing differentiated resources, monitoring progress, supporting therapy-related interventions, and helping pupils build independence, confidence, communication, and social skills. The successful candidate will contribute to a safe, inclusive, respectful, and child-centred learning environment within an American curriculum school in Abu Dhabi.Key Responsibilities* Provide individual and group support for pupils inside and outside the classroom throughout the school day.* Help identified students participate fully in lessons, school routines, specialist activities, extracurricular activities, trips, and visits.* Assist in implementing individual education programmes linked to each student’s IEP goals.* Contribute to monitoring pupil progress, attainment, engagement, behaviour, and social development.* Support pupils with academic, physical, emotional, behavioural, social, and communication needs.* Prepare resources and scaffolded learning materials to help students access or differentiate the curriculum.* Promote student independence by teaching clear, practical, and meaningful learning strategies.* Assist homeroom and subject teachers with pupil records and relevant learning documentation.* Provide academic assistance through individual instruction or group instruction as directed by the teacher.* Demonstrate instructional activities and help students understand assigned classroom tasks.* Monitor work assigned by teachers, checking and correcting student work while it is in progress and in line with school policy.* Keep individual pupils and peer groups focused, engaged, and on task.* Praise and reinforce student achievements while reporting progress and concerns to the teacher.* Supervise individual pupils in classrooms, specialist lessons, corridors, playgrounds, and other school locations.* Support positive behaviour approaches that promote self-esteem, discipline, confidence, and respectful conduct.* Attend and support SaLT, OT, or ABA therapy interventions when required.* Help generalise and consolidate therapy targets in the classroom to maximise student progress.* Attend training sessions, professional meetings, extracurricular activities, trips, and school visits when required. SEN qualification at diploma level.Minimum 2 years of SEN experience in a school or student support environment.Experience supporting students with individual education plans and additional learning needs.Understanding of academic, physical, emotional, behavioural, social, and communication support strategies.Ability to prepare differentiated resources and scaffold learning for individual pupils.Knowledge of early intervention, inclusion practices, confidentiality, student wellbeing, safeguarding, and school policy requirements.Experience supporting intervention targets related to speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or ABA therapy is an advantage.Patient, caring, reliable, and professional approach to working with children.Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with teachers, inclusion teams, therapists, and school staff.Ability to promote independence, confidence, positive behaviour, and active participation in learning.Good organisational skills for records, resources, routines, and classroom support tasks.Respect for the culture and values of the region.Commitment to inclusive education, child-centred learning, and continuous professional development.
