EDGE Consultants is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Instructional Design Manager to lead the design, development, and quality assurance of impactful learning solutions for our diverse client base. This role combines hands-on instructional design expertise with team leadership, client engagement, and oversight learning strategy. The Instructional Design Manager will ensure all learning experiences are innovative, learner-centered, and aligned with business and performance outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of instructional designers, ensuring high-quality standards, consistency, and timely delivery across multiple projects.
- Define and oversee instructional design frameworks, templates, and quality standards aligned with adult learning principles and industry best practices.
- Provide strategic input into learning solution design, learning journeys, and program architecture across client engagements.
- Act as a subject matter lead on instructional design, advising internal stakeholders and clients on best-fit learning strategies.
Learning Design & Development
- Oversee the design and development of engaging, interactive learning solutions including instructor-led programs, blended learning, digital learning, multimedia content, videos, and learning activities.
- Ensure learning materials align with learning outcomes, performance goals, and adult learning theories.
- Review, approve, and continuously improve learning content, storyboards, session agendas, and instructional assets.
- Stay current with emerging instructional design trends, tools, and technologies and integrate innovations into learning solutions.
Client Engagement & Needs Analysis
- Lead and participate in high-level client meetings to conduct training needs analyses, clarify learning objectives, target audience needs, job tasks, and learning environments.
- Translate business and performance challenges into scalable learning solutions.
- Lead the development of technical and learning proposals, including learning journeys, instructional approaches, timelines, and evaluation strategies.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all learning solutions meet EDGE Consultants’ quality standards and reflect industry best practices.
- Establish feedback mechanisms to evaluate learning effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Oversee revisions and updates to existing learning programs based on learner feedback, client input, and performance data.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Collaborate closely with coaches, facilitators, and subject matter experts to ensure smooth handover and consistent learning delivery.
- Provide learning design coaching and guidance to facilitators to ensure strong learner engagement and content mastery.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing timelines, resources, and client expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; postgraduate qualification in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, or a related field is an advantage.
- 8-12+ years of experience in instructional design, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven experience managing multiple learning projects with competing deadlines.
- Strong expertise in adult learning theories, instructional design models, and blended learning solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in writing learning and technical proposals for clients.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Experience with multimedia development, video production, or graphic design is a strong plus.
- Ability to work strategically while remaining hands-on when needed.
- Proactive, flexible, committed, and eager to continuously learn and innovate.
